Host: "The known or presumed host plants are chenopodiaceous shrubs (Halostachys belangeriana (Moq.) Botsch. [Arthrocnemum belangerianum Moq.; Salicornia caspica Pall.], Salsola dendroides Pall. [Caroxylon dendroides (Pall.) Tzvel.]) as well as Limonium meyeri (Boiss.) Kuntze [Statice meyeri Boiss.]. Should the latter host be confirmed, this would be the first instance of Cistanche parasitising a representative of Plumbaginaceae" (Aghababyan, 2013: 137). "This is the first report of C. armena parasitizing Alhagi maurorum Medik. Comments:

Taxonomic observations: According to Aghababyan, 2013, Cistanche armena is a different species to Cistanche salsa. We share the same opinion about this species.

Genetic observations: NCBI 1914441, GenBank: KY062761.1 (Kwolek & al., 2016).

Chromosomatic number:
