Comments:

Taxonomic observations: "these two taxa to be clearly different and indicated that specific rank is justified for both, C. phelypaea and C. lutea" (Moreno Moral, Sánchez Pedraja & Piwowarczyk, 2018: 23). "Cistanche lutea has been considered conspecific with C. phelypaea by Beck 1930 (sub C. tinctoria) and, more recently, by Rix & Webb 1972, Foley 2001a, 2001b, and Domina & Raab-Straube 2010+ [C. phelypaea in Euro+Med PlantBase (accessed Nov 2008)]. Others have separated the two taxa only at subspecific level (Fernández Casas & Laínz 1973, [Valdés (1987: 558 f. 1, sub C. phelypaea subsp. phelypaea)], Pujadas 2002, Piwowarczyk & al. 2016)."
